Do you know.....

Do any of you know anything about shotty nodes and thyroiditis - apparently it is hashimoto (by the mutterance of the doctor - a mutterance to himself I might add)????  I feel really really bad today.  Having a sudden burning pain in the thyroid region on and off today with a headache and the back of my neck (where the skull meets) and my shoulders hurt too.  Tingles in the right arm from the elbow to the fingers never went away today.  Does anyone know if I need to treatment (I guess by the ENT) for the opacification of the mastoid air cells?  This is the only part of the situation that does not hurt, but my ear is stuffy again.

Sick of drs.

Different ENT next week (the 25th) to discuss this mastoid thing.  I know this ENT does deal with thyroids too, I talked to him one weekend when I thought I was having a reaction to the levo.  He was really nice on the phone apparently, he takes call so when I called my after hours number one weekend - early in this thyroid hell of my existance lately, he ws the call dr.  Let's pray he can fix some of the multiple problems.

Hello there long lost pal!  How are you?  Recovery went well???  I am so glad to see you posting again!!!! So, give me some update, news, etc.!

I haven't had an ear infection that I know of, just pulling straws I guess. No pain, just recurrent full, stuffy, ringing of the ear with some stupid shotty nodes near the ear, down the neck and in the upper back.  I get headaches but don't know if they are related.  I can feel a bunch of them, but they are pea sized.

I am just at a loss and don't know which stupid doc to call.  The one on the top doc page has moved.  Think I will try the other ENT office here.  Just a mess.

Hi lady!  Just wanted to add what I have been told---any chronic infection (head colds, urinary tract infections, even allergies) can leave you with shotty lymph nodes, though they should be less than 1.0cm and be firm and moveable.  Most people can feel at least one of their lymph nodes, so please don't fret too much about that.  The only way to know for sure why they are enlarged is to have them biopsied, but they won't biopy a node that is less than 1.0cm.  They will most likely do an ultrasound first to look at the size and composition and decide after that.  I don't know about the ear infection moving into your thyroid, but hey, anything is possible! ;)

So - any suggestion on which super doctor to see about this mess??? Also, can there possibly be a link between some strange chronic infection of my ear that has made its way to the lymph nodes and now maybe my thyroid???  I know, its a long shot, but hey, if the headache fits, right!??!!!

" Opacification of the mastoid air cells " is rather result of the disease not the disease itself. I read yesterday that it ithe inflammation of the cranial nerve(s) could cause headche you are describing plus the other symptoms. One "super" dentist "confused" such nerve inflammation with the tooth abcess and  pulled the healthy tooth out.

LOL --- I knew something was up with my stupid endo --- went to the top doc site and mine says "no longer listed as of October 2006")  Guess he found more money with diabetes patients.  It lists another one here in my town.  Funny, I never knew about him but it also says he prescribes armour.  Will be calling him tomorrow a.m. --- not for the armour --- just for the leaving the quack I have.

I called the ENT today and told the receptionist I needed to make an appointment b/c the surgeon they sent me to wanted me seen by the ENT again.  Get this -- the only mention of an appt she made was.... well, it will be a while for the next appointment..... you are welcome to talk to the nurse and see if she can suggest something or squeeze you in.  I thought the scheduling receptionist made appointments, not the nurse.  I think they are confused about who does what there.  I bet they left the receptionist diagnose the patients too.

Your symptoms written by you in the past and here  today- totally says you have some sort of thyroidtitis going on.

It took me 3 yrs after RAI for my doctor to realize not only did I have Grave's prior to RAI but Hashi too.

I totally get what you are saying with the burning and neck discomfort thing.

Hun - you need a new doctor -

Look up/google  ( and it was good luck for me to do it) Thyroid Disease - Top Doctor Directory.

A list should pop up and you can go into your state and find a real thyroid physician.

The new doctor I found is classified as an MD - but specializes in bio identical hormones. He has been my life saver.

Try it - it may help. Don't let this madness continue.

Let me know - I feel so bad for you.
