Bruce, there are migraines with aura and migraines without aura.

Have you had visual disturbances with these headaches? I have them with aura and it starts in the center of my vision as a flashy, zig-zag line of light and within a half an hour move out to peripheral vision (and usually) away....about a half hour from onset of aura, i get the migraine. In that time i have taken my abortive medicine and hopefully i don't suffer as much.

They normally appear on one side of your head only. Things like laying down, leaning forward even coughing can make it hurt worse. Once the headache is over, my brain feel "bruised" for awhile--these headaches can last for a day or many days.

I have noticed that while I am having more problems because of hormones myself, that some of my previous migraine attacks have coincided with changing my thyroid dose or in the case of this past winter, I had to change brands for a few weeks and that set off a long string of them. Not saying thats what happened to you but wanted you to know what happens to me.

It could be many things, stress, foods other meds. What are your headaches like?

I too get migraines, almost always the same day at the end of my menstrual cycle. They are definitely hormonal but thyroid based, considering how much you thyroid can affect your hormones. My first endo didn't believe they were connected but they started right around the time I was diagnosed and go away when my tsh is roughly below 2.
I went to a new endo who agreed they are caused by hashi/hypo hormone changes and he also said that lots of hashi patients are prone to frequent headaches of various degrees. News to me! He is working with my levels until both my levels are stable and my symptoms are better. In the meantime my gp prescribed meds for any migraines so I can function and not be confined to my bed or couch for a whole day or two.
In conclusion, if your doc won't listen, see a new one.

I get migranes too. Everytime that I have them, they affect one side of my head and includes my ear.

It could be also hormonal, but sometimes they last for two weeks in a row.

I am not leveled yet, but when I have been feeling better in the past I do not get them as hard or at all.

Maybe your level are not yet where they should be?
