Thanks Shelley,
I am trying more and more to do that..
Seems like this week all the symptoms returned, one by one, day by day.. UGH...
YOGA has helped me so much! The easy stuff -stretches, deep breathing, etc.
I too sit at a PC all day and it is HORRIBLE for your spine & disks!
You need to get up for a few minutes each hour and stretch, go for a walk down the hall (restroom) The spine is so aggravated from sitting for hours at a time it causes problems with blood flow to the nerves. The nerves send messages to the muscles.
I started noticing a difference when I just forced myself to get up and away from my PC, even for just 3-5 minutes - simple stretches, deep breathing - something to get the oxygen to the muscles!
Thanks LazyMoose!
I am still taking the vitamin d as well as the mangesium and doing the Trigger point.
I noticed when I had two weeks off, not sitting by a computer really made a difference and allowed me to heal. The first week back to work, it slowly started creeping back. So in essence I am finding out that maybe a key component to me getting better is sitting at work for 8hrs and how I can solve that.
I have had an ergonomic eval etc and made changes but it still is an issue.
Its both.
Hypo magnifies and 'resurfaces' past injuries and weak points in your body. Much of this can go away when a certain T3 level is reached from converting T4. You will find out your FT 3 levels soon hopefully.
This process can continue for months to several years once is starts healing. As with many injuries, some lingering discomfort may resurface time to time, but they will be more manageable. Thus, there might be a need to continue certain supplements like Vit D or Magnesium if these work for your muscle soreness.
People that had minimal pain while hypo, are more likely to have had minimal body pain and / or injuries in the past.
Wish I had the patients to sit at a computer all day, I did for a couple years back when I was hypo, but then I did all I could to stay awake sitting there plus got hypo induced carpel tunnel. A ringing phone was my savior!
I try to drink water constantly at my desk. Just recently I noticed how the pain starts and it got me thinking.
When I first started PT I felt terrible after every session now if I do not go in during the week I feel terrible. So it seems that the tables are turning. If I do not use the muscles they get worse.
Yup, it's just part of the pattern. I've noticed similar stiffness and soreness when I sit for a while too. I sit at a computer all day too. If I don't get up in about an hour to hour and a half it just hurts to walk for a bit. I used to keep a 64 ounce of water on my desk. Now I keep 12 ounces. Makes me get up every hour now and go get more. That has helped me a bunch.
Now at home I need to figure out some things to get me up more often especially when watching a movie with the family.
Thanks!
Am trying to understand my symptoms better. Being the Levo has helped a ton withe the muscle pain etc Am also taking vitamin d.
Now that the pain in general has subsided. I am noticing the pattern of when and how it is returning. And to be honest I was not sure if that was from hypo or from a previous injury or both.
I get stiff all the time. I think if you have any type of thyroid problem you should try to stretch and/or do yoga. I am not flexible at all, but I have been trying to go to a yoga class at least 1 or 2 times a week. I think it helps.
YES! Lots of us hypos have muscle stiffness and pains. I find as I sit at my computer for up to 12 hours a day, that if I don't get up and do something else for a few minutes I can't get up at all!
I find taking my Vit D regularly helps. I find also to not let myself get too tired helps also.
Try to get up regularly and have a bit of a stretch of a mini-jog, I find that helps alot.
