I also have Graves, and just a heads up, I had RAI and not sure what is to blame, the thyroid or the treatment, but I am anemic and have very low Vitamin d levels, all of which cause muscle soreness. I took a heavy dose of D and iron and the soreness is going away, although my levels are finally getting back to normal also. This has been since october, that is when I had the RAI.
Have your vitamin levels and iron checked, hope this helps.
Thanks for the reply. This is quite interesting. I actually received the news this week that I tested positive for Graves' Disease. Apparently the Graves was developing for some time as the lower back & leg pain were developing as well. I don't know yet if there is a connection. I have an appointment with my Endo and an Orthopedic doctor next week. It will be interesting to learn if there is a connection.
Hypothyroid people can have a lot of body pain. Hypo effects all organs, including muscles. The time for the muscles to rebuild is greatly increased, thus morning soreness. Muscles will knot up, swell, and put pressure on the nerve sheaths, which in return can cause the tingling, electric shock feel. There are many related posts on this just in the last month. Vitamin B's , potassium and magnesium are important for muscles. I don't know if hyper thyroid can cause the same issues as hypo though.
Hi,
I'm new to this since I'm just getting started with the thyrod stuff.
I've gotten severe muscle cramps, muscle aches, tightness, tingling, it seems to all go along with the territory. Currently, have a major muscle problem with my lower back.
You should try taking a muscle relaxant like flexerill.
Good luck JKV44
