My Eyes - are Exhausted :(

I wanted to ask anyone out there - with Graves do your eyes ever stop hurting ? The starring has gotten worse and when I drive it feels like my eyes are closing on me. Watching TV is out of the question -even typing this the white background makes me want to close my eyes. Can any one give me some information on this = Please. I need to know if it gets better or if this is just the start of things to come. I have been on medication for 2 months now and my heart rate is finally in control but my eyes are getting worse each day. Any one got advice for me ???

I do not have graves, but I am hyperthyroid.

The last couple of months I have noticed the change in my eyes.  My eyes get so tired around mid day and run water.  I just had an eye exam about 6 months ago, so not sure what it is.  The new glasses are not working for me now.  I am going back in a week or so to get rechecked.  So yes you may have TED, I think thats what its called.

Sounds like you are developing GED--Graves' Eye Disease--in which your eyes start to hurt b/c of the muslces behind them stiffening up and will eventually make your eyes "bug".  It is excruciatingly painful, was for me anyway.  You need to talk to your endo about it asap.  Mine had me take prednisone for about 2 months.  The deciding factor of me doing RAI as soon as I did was to try and stop my eyes and get me off of the steroids.

If this is what is happening the swelling squeezes the optic nerve and can do permanent damage.  I don't have very good periphereal vision any more b/c of this.  You should be able to hold your arms straight out to your sides and still see them, if you can't this can be a sign of trouble.  I can't.  Mine is permanent.
