I tend to have a lot of apetite but im not sure what im not allow to eat . thank you i'll eat broccoli now .. :D i hope it will be better soon cause its hard swallowing the big stuff and trouble breathing.
Hi, No.. you won't die! I used to have an overactive thyroid too. You can't have the surgery until your thyroid is controlled with the meds. It might take some time, mine took about 1 -2 years. You might need more medication? Also try to eat lots of foods that will suppress the thyroid like broccoli.
thank you so much, im just afraid.. i wanted to do a surgery too but he said i am not allow to cause with a very overactive thyroid it could be serious. but if i do the surgery will i have to do the RAI ? and do i have to still take medicines forever? and thank so much Lilypad300 and thyroidless1944 =] i feel much better now
Hey there.
I too had an overactive thyroid.
While I am quite a bit older than you, I understand the fears that you are facing.
1st, you will not die. Your doctors are going to try to give you the best possible solution to your problem, just make sure not to be afraid or embarrassed to ask a lot of questions. Take a notebook with you to each appointment. Before you go jot down questions you have and feelings/symptoms both physical & emotional that you're experiencing. Be vocal!
For me, the best option was surgery. I just had mine last Monday and everything seems to be going according to plan, I just have to listen to my doctors and be patient while all of my hormones and things like calcium fall back into place.
The people on this site are great and will answer questions. I know they have for me.
Hang in there! You WILL get better!
I'm so sorry that you have this problem at such a young age, but please don't think you can die. Just follow what your doctor tells you to do and ask questions and get answers that are meaningful to you. Ask the doctor and the forum. I don't have the same problem, so I'm sorry I cannot help you, but many members of the forum share your concerns. Good luck and God bless you.
