My daughter's symptoms

I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease. I have been reading about the connections between Hashimosto's and other autoimmune disorders + thyroid disorders.

My 7 year old daughter has been showing a bunch of symptoms over the past 2 years and has had many tests, but we cannot figure out what is ailing her.

She has restless leg syndrome, had one complex partial seizure and 2 febrile seizures. She is very sensitive to sugar and food in general. She urinates frequently. She is a sensory child and easily overstimulated. She sweats in her sleep, but gets blue lips at the pool. She eats a lot, but is still thin, not too thin, but thin. She is in the 20%. She gets dizzy often. She is busy, hyper and then she want to lie down and sleep. She has had CAT scans, MRIs, EEGs, blood tests for fasting glucose, had an overnight sleep study, we have done listening therapy, and she is now off gluten and dairy.

I have felt for a long time that she has an endocrine disorder, but I do not know which one. Her fasting glucose was fine 2 years ago. She is not losing weight, but not gaining very fast.

Help! We are trying everything and we cannot get any answers. It is so sad to see her struggling and not be able to help her. Does anyone have any ideas that we have not thought of, or any tests that we have not done or have done , but should do again?

Thanks!

I know you said you did fasting glucose tests, but it does sound like your daughter could be diabetic as well.  My son was dx'd at the age of 10 with juvenile diabetes and he had a lot of the same symptoms.

Also, don't forget that it's possible to get more than one autoimmune disease and some of them have "overlapping" symptoms and for a 7 yr old, tests that were done 2 yrs ago have no bearing on what's happening today.  Health issues can change very quickly for all of us.

You need to have her reevaluated.  At the very least, get a thyroid panel done (TSH, Free T4 and Free T3), along with antibody testing and get fasting glucose, hemoglobin A1c and an insulin test done.  It might also be helpful to get a glucometer and check her fasting blood sugar daily for a while just to get an idea of what's going on.

Good luck.

Hello, my daughter is 8 and born without a thyroid gland.Your daughter sounds hypERthyroid. My daughter is hypOthyroid most of her life. But I know what the hypER symptoms are as we have to be careful not to over medicate. I would definately persue this. Mothers have great intuition. You will need to have her examined by a pediatric endochronologist. Begin keeping a journal of symptoms and dates now to bring with you. I wish you good luck with this, as I can relate to how it feels to have a child who does not feel well.God bless and don't give up! Our little girls are counting on us!!!
