Hi,
WELCOME to our thyroid community .... definitely this is the place to come for help from so many of our members who have Grave's and can help you at this difficult time.
I had a partial thyroidectomy in '07 and not too well-versed with Grave's but wanted to stop by and say hello ...
I hope you get a gameplan in place soon and that your daughter feels better soon, too.
We are a great community and here for you with any of your ?'s ... there's so much to learn I'm sure!
C~
I have had graves for 6 year- medicated ....and mine never went away i ended up taken RAI radioactive iodine treatment, to destoy my thyroid , (which isnt sore) all the symptoms he is having i had also , my moods swings were awful...your thyroid controls your hormones, and ,makes your really moody ,ive herd its diff for men , i dont know if thats true.... a thyroid is a thyroid !!! You are doing the right thing by re searching as much as possible to help him its an awful condition , others will help you on here as they did with me !!! Goodluck , hope he gets better ,which he will with meds
Well..that explains it. Now they will discuss his options depending on the severity. He will be fine....
We was told today he has graves disease .They will see him again Monday to give him an idea of what happens now I tried to get him to give me his numbers but he would not because he said he did not want me to worry .Yes he has had mood changes and his hair is thinning .
Hair loss or thinning, weight loss and change of mood are symptoms of a thyroid condition....by chance is he diabetic as well??? Both hypo and hyper symptoms are similiar and can get worse if the levels aren't at normal range...
very thristy, hair loss,. sweating. weight loss he goes the bathroom ALOT .I think he is really moody but that could be anything
Sorry for all that is going on, but as far as your husband's diagnosis, being hyperthyroid means that the thyroid is overactive and producing too much hormone.
I am opposite because of a TT (total Thyroidectomy) done in dec. My thyroid is underactive and causing alot of symptoms for me. I have a girlfriend who has a overactive thyroid, that had many of the symptoms i have and she has actually snowballed from being hyper to hypo but has not chosen to take action besides medication. Everyone's situation is different and depending on the circumstance, treatment will vary. What if any, symptoms are your husband having????
