Please PM me on this question for links on "how to get your desiccated thyroid medication."
Thanks
Call some smaller pharmacies. I found 2 months of generic 'Armour' by Major. I hope it dose not mess me up, it shouldn't.
I checked out some compounding places, about $80 a month for 2 grains a day, but they say they have the best set up to make it accurately.
You need to be pro-active on this as your doc most likely did not know himself what happened. Not their job to stock shelves, so you cant blame them. I told the nurse at my endo what the deal was, they had no clue.
You should try compounded desicated first in my opinion. My doctor and pharmacist said we should stay as close to the meds that have been working for us until supplies are back. Word is that Armour did not follow FDA protocal and reformulated. People not doing as well on it. Try Naturethroid or Westroid when supplies are back. They are working on it, could be 90 days. If you can't find it, (I did today and yesterday, got out the phonebook) then a compounding pharmacist can help you until it's back (SUPPLY & DEMAND)
I switched from Armour to Synthroid with Cytomel and doing good.
There are other dessicated thyroid meds out there such as Nature-throid and Westhroid, but they are about 90 days backordered because of the problems with Armour.
Soooooo I would probably ask about the Synthroid with Cytomel.
