Newly Diagnosed with Graves

Earlier this week my doc called and said that I have Graves disease. I have had extreme tiredness for the last year and vision problems for at least six months. I got an appointment with an endo doc but it's a month away. How long after starting treatment do the tiredness and vision problems go away? Or do they go away? It is hard for my eyes to focus when I read and they are very sensitive to light. I have only five months left of college and I would like to have my vision back. I went to the eye doctor and he said that my eyeglass prescription was fine. It is a relief to know that I'm not crazy (that's what I was starting to think because no doctor took me seriously for the past year). But now that I know what is wrong, I want it to be fixed right away.

Welcome Jennifer. Some of us went several yrs before a proper diagnosis. Too bad they don't run thyroid panels as often as they do CBC, this could save many a lot of headache.

As to when you'll feel better, everyone is different, but the average time that ppl start feeling better again, is 2-4 weeks. I know you feel miserable now, but it DOES get better!! Did they start you on a beta blocker or ATD(ANTITHYROID MED). Please don't tell me they didn't give you anything!!
