Losing my hair

About a year and 1/2 ago, my doctor started me on Levothyroxine 25 MCG. I was tested again recently and my new doctor doubled my dosage. In the past several months I have been losing about 50 strands each time I comb or brush my hair. They come out by the roots. Not only am I losing it, but the hair that's left is very thin. I'd say each strand is about 1/2 the thickness it used to be. At the rate I'm going, I should be very bald within a year. Why is this happening? Will it stop? My new doctor also started me on 1 MG of folic acid and 2,000 units of vitamin D per day.
Are there any other symptoms/side effects? the reason I ask is that my mamogram came back showing 'something'. I have to have an ultra sound soon to find out what 'it' is. I'm scared to death. Losing my hair so fast and now THIS! Perhaps they're not related? I have always been so healthy. I thought I'd be one of the people to have a 100 year old birthday party. Looks like I was mistaken. If these things don't kill me, it looks like worry will.
Does anyone know what's happening with me?

Since I posted this, I am now taking Vitamin D, Folic Acid, the Levo., and a vitamin B complex with extra biotin. I will be tested in another 2 weeks to see if my thyroid test is where it should be. No, I do not have Hashimoto's disease.
My followup on the mamogram came back negative.
Thanks for your reply.

can you post your latest lab work?  This could be a symptom of your thyroid getting more degenerated and you not taking enough medication.   Did you ever get tested for hashimotos disease:?
