I have tried it Stella with Eutroxsig (thyroxin) but only the once.
I found within 15 minutes, my heart was racing and I was sweating so bad and felt like I was burning up.
Ive never done it since.
It may have something to do with me being drug sensitive and the heart issues I have.
Food for thought?
Thank you for all your comments. I am new here and I apprecated your interest.
I am taking synthroid .300 mcg. until a year ago I hadn't had any problems with obsorbtion. I have been on meds for thyroid for 20 yrs. Unfort. the doc who did my surgery is not a Doctor any more. As far as I know I am not lactos intolerent. My spelling is aweful, sorry.
You all have given me some things to bring up to my family Doc.
God Bless,
Luann
Do you bloat after eating milk products too?
I am just throwing this out there, but this mkes a bit of sense to me.
If you had gastric bypass surgery you could be lactose intolerant. You definately could be having issues with any meds if you are using the stomach and GI track to do 100% absorption.
I would consider asking about trying Naturethroid and do it sublingually.. I think your absorption issues could be solved without swollowing your meds and letting it dissolve under your tongue so the absorption enters the blood stream instead of relying on the GI track.
I wonder if there is an option of doing Levo sublingually?? As anyone tried it?
I've done that a few times too skeeter....thought I'd swallowed the 1 1/4 tablet and found it under my tongue lol (yukk).
Anyway...always go for name brands as skeeter says and try to avoid generic.
I looked at one brand of thyroxine in Australia here and the damn thing has talcum powder as a filler!
It makes the tablet bind together better (or so they say)...YET there was a write up last year that talcum owder shouldnt be used on babys because of toxicity.
makes you wonder what else they are going to put in meds.
One interesting aspect that I came across is that my T4 med has magnesium in it.
Surprised me very much.
Are you taking generic levo? My Dr. gave me an additional prescription for Name Brand Levoxyl. He told me that you don't have to wait an hour to eat when you use it. I know that they dissolve MUCH faster and tend to stick in your throat. I've even thought I swallowed it only to find it stuck inside my cheek. So maybe it would absorb better after gastric bypass?
BTW my Dr. is hypo, so I think he knows from personal experience.
Are you taking Calcium supplements as it has been known that Calcium can help with absorbtion with people who have had gastric bypasses?
Maybe this is worth discussing with your Doctor.
As we all know, supplements are not to to be taken until at least 4 hours after taking a T4 med but it is known worldwide that Calcium helps with absorbtion and this does include people who have had gastric surgery.
