Overdose

My sister was perscribed .50 mcg of levothyroxine. Instead, the pharmacist gave her 150mcg of it. After three months, she was feeling awful, Ached all over had a fever and much more.  What advise can I give her and what kind of doctor does she need to see to get better? The GP that put her on it is giving her prednisone to make her feel better but as soon as she goes off of it the fever and pain come back and she is having awful effects of the prednisone. Pleas help!

Just a thought...maybe the national Poison Control Center would have an idea for you.

I would think an endocrinologist would be the dr with the most knowledge on how to handle something like this.

That's an awful mistake.  Good luck.

I am shocked the prescribing dr did not do a 6 week blood draw at the very least but hindsight is 20/20 .. has she had her blood drawn for TSH and if so what is her current level?

This is like russian roulette w/o a blood draw?
