Parathyroid problem? Please help

I am a 43 year old female and I've been having kidney stone problems since I'm 21 years old.  In the past 5 years, I had 2 kidney stones that were so large that they blocked urine flow and I ended up in the hospital with severe kidney infections, I also had 2 lithotripsies to break up the stones.  Finally a urologist tested me and found out I had high calcium in my urine.  He put me on a diuretic to flush out the calcium before stones are formed.....He never looked further to find out my the calcium was so high in my urine.

In addition, I've been suffering from very bad depression, insomnia, debilitating headaches, short term memory loss and high blood pressure for the past 5 years.  I take medication for all of these problems.  It seems like every year, a new problem starts.  The past few months, I now have tingling hands, hoarse voice, reflux, constipation and a weird stomach pain.  The past 2 years I have such bad fatigue that I had to stop working.  I am in bed for at least 12 hours every day.  It's all gotten so unbearable and it seems like none of my doctors are concerned.

What are the chances this ISN'T a parathyroid problem?  (with all of these symptoms AND  high urine calcium?)
Thank you for any advice!!!!

Hi Marla, I had a parathyroid tumor removed in 2000. The most notable symptom was a terrible pain and weakness when walking unable to climb 3 stairs without pain. This turned out to be due to a calcium lvl in my blood of 19 when the most should have been 10. Once the parathyroid was removed I had no more problems. I have in the last year developed a Multinodular Goiter. You need to see Endocronologist and have a nuclear scan done as the parathyroid tumors are rarely visible or easy to feel. The calcium in your urine could be an overflow of calcium in your blood. But the blood calcium, total is the most important indicator. I also have alot of your symptoms at this time

Thanks Laura...Is there a difference between having high calcium in the urine versus high calcium in the blood?

I agree that it is time for you to find a parathyroid specialist to rule out any tumors, etc.
You should never have a high calcium level....that signifies that something is wrong.

At least , from looking up parathyroid disease myself, it sounds like you could have issues.

What type of doctor are you seeing? You may need to start searching for someone who understands this disease and either confirm or rule it out entirely.
