TSH, FT4 level for Hair Regrowth

What level does TSH and FT4 need to be at for hair regrowth to occur?

My gut feeling is that the hair loss wasn't due to the levo, but to being hypo.  Often hair loss will continue after starting levo, but this is because meds levels are not yet appropriate, and symptoms linger.  Your FT4 is so low that I'm not surprised that your hair has not started to regrow.  If I were you, I'd ask my doctor about adding levo again to get your FT4 up a bit.  Also, ask for FT3 the next time you have bloodwork.

I lost hair, approx 50%, from taking Levothyroxine.  The hair loss is now stable, but I'm not seeing regrowth at this point (been off Levo 5 mths)

Both your TSH and FT4 look quite hypo.  You say you have no symptoms, but you lost hair, which can be a hypo symptom.  Is there something else that you think caused the hair loss, and therefore you don't consider it a hypo symptom?

Please explain the misdiagnosis further.  Thanks.

I am not on meds, came off due to misdiagnosis.  TSH is around 3 and FT4 is lower end of the labs normal range (approx 1, scale 1-2).  No symptoms

Unfortunately, there is no easy answer to this.  It's very individual.  Once you are on the proper therapeutic dose of meds, your hair will start to regrow.  Keep in mind that your body has a lot of healing to do after being hypo for a time.  Hair is not the body's priority.  Your essential systems will heal first.  Also, once on the proper dose, it often takes time for the symptoms to go away.

What is your TSH and FT4 (and its reference range) currently?
