Thank you so much for your response. I do feel a little better now.
What is a TPO? is that the Thyroglobulin. My nurse said it was high.
I never knew about Hashimoto's until now.
I went to the Dr. after the death of a very close family member for aniexty and depression and he found the lump. He feels I have Hashimotos as well but has not spoke to me since these results came back.
Thanks for all you help.
Rachel
Don't be scared. One cm is small. Yes, it should shrink with the Synthroid. your TPO is slightly high, indicating Hashimoto's auto-immune thyroiditis.
This is not just a low thyroid disease, but an auto-immune disease. Nodules are common with Hashimoto's. Antibodies attack the thryoid and BAM! little explosions going on inside the thyroid. A nodule is the result. You only have one and your antibody count is not high compared to most. You may have caught this disease early enough to save the thyroid gland.
I highly suggest giving up gluten, as gluten is usually the trigger, even if you test negative on a celiac panel. After years of eating gluten, our tummies bloat and we deal with IBS. Eventually, the gluten wears down intestinal walls and seeps into the bloodstream. Our antibodies attack the gluten as a foreign invader. The poor thyroid gland is similar in molecular structure to gluten and eventually the antibodies go after it as well. Why don't most endos tell us this? They just give us Synthroid and send us on our way.
Cutting gluten out of my diet has changed my life. Read my journal. See my photos of my neck swelling and how it is now gone.
Hashimoto's will not kill you. One little nodule will not kill you. Relax....
