Polar opposites

j10
I have conflicting thyroiditis. I have a hot nodule on the left side of my thyroid. I have a low TSH level and it has been that way for several months (more than 3). BUT I exhibit all of the symptoms of "hypothyroidism." I have none of the symptoms for "hyper" except for the low TSH. My lab work has always been opposite. Meaning all level have been low, T4,T3 and TSH. The doctor wants to treat me for hyper with medication? Will this cure the hot nodule or just slow down the thyroid even more? Do I need to get a second opinion?

I.d definitely get another opinion.  Your FT4 is right on the bottom of the range, so I don't doubt for a minute that you feel quite hypo.  However, your FT3 still looks good.  Anti-thyroid meds are going to slow yiour thyroid down and make you even more hypo than you are now.

Has your doctor explained why he wants to do this?  Is he expecting this to shrink the hot nodule?  Is it a "temporary" treatment.  I have to say I don't see his logic.

Do you have the ranges on the T3 and T4?  These are specific to each lab, and if you have them, I'd like to see yours.  If not, I'll use mine for the time being, but I'd much prefer to have yours.

I'm not doubting your word, but I just want to make sure of what your doctor wants to treat you with.  Is it anti-thyroid meds of thyroid hormone replacement meds?

Your doctor wants to put you on anti-thyroid meds?  Is that correct?

Please post actual numbers for FT3, FT4 (and their reference ranges) and TSH.
