Query about carbimazole dose?

I have Graves Disease and was recently reduced from 20mg a day of Neo-mercazole (carbimazole) to 5mg.  I was told to stop taking it for 2-days and to start back on 5mg a day.  Apparently my blood test results were just below normal.  Is this unusually low for a dosage? The reason I ask is because I'm having heart palpitations, anxiety, tremors and I'm feeling weak and exhausted all over again.  I was feeling great on the 20mg and now I feel terrible.

Hey Deb,  My symptoms have finally settled down and I've had a great last few days.  It would seem that 10mg was the right dose all the long.  I tried 5mg but way to many heart palps so will stick to 10mg until I can get some more tests done :)

I decided on a dose of 10mg Sally and so far it's working for me :)  I'll remain on the 10 now until I can get some more tests run to see where I'm at.  Thanks for the advice.

Wait 2 weeks from dose change then go for labs BUT if the hyper symptoms dont subside...go sooner.
Also split the meds up so you have a dose at bedtime.

Hi,

I am sure tomorrow is too early to get testing.  Some others will chime in on appropriate timing for testing.

Hi Sally,

I changed my dosage today so I'm now on 10mg a day.  Just out of curiosity, would you know how long I woud need to wait until I can go and get some more TFT tests done?

I just want to gauge where I'm at now, although I only changed my dosage to 10mg today.  Is it to early to go and get some new blood work done tmrw?

Maybe the dose reduction was too much and you still need a higher dose (less than 20, but more than 5).  I'd reckon you should call your doctor asap and tell him what's going on and ask him to revise the dose.
