Regrowth of the thyroid

I had a total thyroidectomy in 2005 and last week my new endocrinologist told me that my thyroid is growing back that she could feel it in my neck.  I had been having problems with tightness in my neck and I found it really weird that I was experiencing HYPER-thyoid symptoms when I am HYPO.  My endo. told me that it could be due to my thyroid having some function again.  I am really stressing about the tightness on the front of my neck.  It feels as though something is wrapping around my throat.  Has anyone ever experienced this problem?  My thyroid was found not to be cancerous when I had the biopsy.  I had it removed due to a goiter.  If the tightness in my neck is due to my throid growing back, how long do I have to deal with this it? I am having blood work done in a few weeks so my endo can lower my dosage.  Should I have an ultrasound done as well?

Unfortunatly I had a really bad doctor who was not monitoring what was going on.  I believe it is gradual.  I have been going through this for two years now.  I am so glad that I finally know what is going on.  I can't wait to feel better.  When I complained about pain in my neck and tight muscles in my neck it was written off as anxiety.  The new Endo that I am seeing noticed it right away.  I did my lab work and she decided to change my medication from synthroid to Armour and she lowered the dosage.  I plan on speaking with her about getting a u/c or CT of my neck.  I was told yesterday that I should have had physical therapy after my surgery.  My doctor never mentioned physical therapy to me.  It probably would help with the tight muscles in my neck.

I'm not a Dr but I'd insist on an ultrasound or CT Scan .. an u/s won't show scar tissue but a CT Scan I think ???  Anybody out there know????

It could be functioning again.... I wonder with me about that in the future, too, as I had a partial which the other side is not working but wondered if it decides to work will I go into thyroid storm and my endo replied it would be gradual.

Has yours been gradual? Just curious.

Let us know what happens with your appt/labwork, etc. and WELCOME~!
