Pregnancy after RAI

For those who have asked about (or worried about) pregnancy after RAI:

A little history.  Entire family has papillary carcinoma.  Youngest sister (24 at initial diagnosis) had spread to lymph nodes and three recurrences/RAI.  Her last recurrence showed significant amounts of cancer in her liver, abdomen, and especially breasts.  Following that last RAI, her thyroglobulin has been "undetectable" which is ****SUCCESS**** for thyroid cancer patients.

Six months after that last RAI she conceived the most beautiful, smart, amazing daughter ever.  That wonderful niece (I'm not biased at all, can you tell??) is now 2 1/2.

My sister called tonight to tell me she is pregnant again and her ultrasound shows a 100% perfect fetus.

Her and her husband had been trying to conceive for years before her thyroid cancer surgery.  After all the treatments and getting her hormones regulated, conception has been easy for them (2 for 2 going off birth control).

See, all of those out there frightened about thyroid surgery, RAI, and future family plans . . . there are happy stories for thyroid cancer survivors!

Though you could use some good news.
