I think if they are talking about removing half your thyroid and doing a frozen section in the operating room, then deciding whether to remove the other half of your thyroid, then you're in good hands. Meaning they are being as aggressive as they have to be, and not a bit more.
Offhand comment. I'm facing having half my thyroid removed. My endocrinologist says he'll put me a small dose of thyroid meds so the other half doesn't have to work too hard to keep my levels normal.
Thanks Barb, I appreciate your help and knowledge!
Thanks for your input, I am following up with Washington University/Barnes in St. Louis, which is a NCI Center, and they start from the beginning, rereading slides, etc. Scheduled a second opinion as well.
Nuclear grooves and rare intranuclear inclusions must be carefully evaluated like suspicious features on the inflammatory background.
For best results the slides must be evaluated by experienced cytologist
I'm far from being an expert at pathology reports, but I'd have to agree with your endo.
Fortunately, thyroid cancer is easily "cured", by removing the thyroid. I know that sounds easy for me to say, but we have quite a few members who have had thyroid cancer.
There is a forum specifically for thyroid cancer. It can be reached via the following link:
