Risk of Infertility/ Unpleasant side effects

I was wondering what the issues are relating to fertility with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. I have an acute form and I was diagnosed last year after at least 17 years as a sufferer.

I was also wondering- I've heard so many people say that they feel great after taking thyroxine, that their weight goes down, their moods go up etc. None of this has happened for me. I actually find that the thyroxine makes me extremely emotionally vulnerable, I have put on weight, my skin is dry and flaky, I suffer from joint pain and life has just generally become much less bearable. They keep on adjusting my dose. Can I expect this to ease, or will it be like this forever?

You know, I have Hashimoto's too, and I find that levothyroxine just does not work.  Try getting your doctor to switch to the namebrand stuff...Synthroid.  It makes a big difference!!

Also, It takes a while for your dosage to become correct as they have to keep testing and leveling it out and so forth, so just give it time, trust me, once you're on the right dose, you'll see a difference.
