TSH level is 5.5 for my son

Sir , my son is born on 26th march,2002 ie he is 6.5 yrs old.
His present test levels are : t3 : 1.4 , t4: 7.9 and tsh : 5.5
it si to understand whether he has to be considered Hypothyroid or else a borderline case.
does he need to be kept on medication.
Pl. advise what need to be done in present case.

Look for a pediatric endocrinologist.

TSH is above normal. High normal is 3.0. Normal TSH use to be 5.0 (I believe), but since then it has been lowered to 3.0. I would suggest looking to see if he is lethargic or has any hypo symptoms. I would also try to locate a doctor who has experience dealing with hypothyroidism in children.
