Time between partial and total thyroidectomy

I had a partial thyroidectomy on March 29.  Pathology has shown that my nodules were thyroid cancer.  Some of the cancer spread slightly to two lymph nodes that were attached to the nodule.  I now need a total thyroidectomy.  My doctor indicated that he wouldn't operate again on my thyroid for 2 to 3 months.  Is this time lag too long? I'm concerned since it is cancer and has spread to lymph nodes.

Thanks,
Karen

I agree that you should post your question in the thyroid cancer forum.

I might also suggest that you have the option of obtaining a second opinion.

I think the whole thing would hinge on the type of cancer you have; if it's a slow growing one, 2-3 months might be okay.  You should get all the details you can, from your doctor so you can make an informed decision.

Boy, I can understand your concern.  In addition to the great advice given here, I would post this in the thyroid cancer former and get Dr. Lupo's take on this.  Best to you, Karen!
