Hi Naveen,
there is no other medicines to be taken, except that she should take a good prenatal multivitamin that contains folic acid, following the dosing instructions.
She should be tested again in 4 weeks. if necessary the thyroid medications will be increased at that time. It sounds like her doctor is competent.
During pregnancy it is important to eat a healthy diet with fresh fruits, lightly cooked vegetables and meats. Avoid sweets.
Best wishes

Sir,
My Mrs is 23 years old & she is pregnant(carrying 8 weeks baby).
According to the reports after the confirmation of pregnancy her TSH level=7.38 on (24/12/10)
we approached Endocrinologist regarding increase in her TSH levels.
He suggested to take Tab.THYONORM 50 Mcg, daily morning before Breakfast and suggested that to monitor her thyroid levels for every 15 days. My wife started taking THYONORM 50 Mcg daily.
After 15 days i had repeated the Thyroid test.According to the reports
her TSH level= 2.95 on 18/01/11(she is 11 weeks pregnant as on 18/01/11)
Again i visited the doctor with the reports.
He suggested us to stop the tab.Thyronorm 50 mcg for 15 days, as her TSH level=2.95. So we had stopped tab.Thyonorm 50 mcg for two weeks
and tested again on 1/02/11 her TSH= 5.91 (now she is 13 weeks pregnant)
Sir please kindly help in this regard as soon as possible whether to continue Thyronorm 50mcg or to reduce her thyroid meds to 25 mcg.
Please suggest me what I have do now?
Is there any problem for pregnant mother and baby.
Please help me sir.....
Her TSH is high, that means that she needs to increase her thyroid meds.
I would think that she would need to increase from 25 mcg up to 50 mcg of thyrox. She should have her levels retested in 4 weeks. If the TSH is still high, she should then have another increase in thyroid meds up to a total of 75 mcg/day.
Please do work with her doctor on this. They should also know that the correct approach now is to increase the thyroid meds.
However, her levels are not very far out and so I wouldn't be too worried about the baby, as long as her meds can be increased and properly monitored for the rest of her pregnancy.
Target TSH in pregnancy is 1 - 2. FT3 and FT4 should both be towards the top of the reference range.
Hope this can hlep you.
