Seeking information

Hello, I am hoping that someone can give me some sort of idea as to what is going on with me.  I went for a physical last week and joked with the doc that I was falling apart.  He reviewed my bloodwork and it was fine except that he hadn't done a thyroid test. As a precaution he did one.  A few days later, the doc;s office called me and said I had to go in for more tests as my tsh was low.  I went and had t3, t4, and thyroid antibodies.  They called the next morn and said that I needed an appointment with doc and was being refered to a specialist.  No information was provided except that my numbers were "whonky". Now that I know there is a thyroid issue, a lot of things are making sense to me.  I have had the following symptons over the past year - chest pain and racing heart(had a stress test and it came back fine), easily agitated and nervous and sometimes profound sadness ( I never told my doc about these mental health symptons because I was embarassed), increased joint pain (I have lots of arthritis, artificial hip etc), difficulty with word retrieval and memory issues (never ever an issue before) and changes to menstrual cycle (saw a specialist for this and there was no apparent problem).  Sadly I do not have the weight loss symptom!  That may be because of my ferocious appetite.  After eating I often experience nausea.  I also have a lot of digestive issues.  Holy when I put that all down in writing it sounds like I am a crazy woman with hyphochondria!  Anyway I am wondering if anyone has experienced these same kinds of things?  What can I do about it?  I am back to family doc on Tuesday and then referral to a specialist...but in the meantine this nervousness and quickly beating heart are driving me nuts.  I appreciate any input.

Get a copy of your tests. It is hard to make any comment with any sort of accuracy unless we see test results with ranges.

TSH being low can point to central hypothryroidism or even hyperthyroidism - while doctors think that test alone is ok, it is really a pituitary test. He continued to test your thyroid, but they should also add a couple pituitary tests in there to make sure the pituitary function is also ok and it not just a one gland issue. Other hormones can mess with thyroid as well.

It is good that you are seeing a specialist. Make sure you get copies always.
