I was Graves in 2003 and I was losing hair by the handful. I had ablated my thyroid with RAI in 2004. Still loss of hair.

What happens is due to the thyroid function the hair follicles begin to die quickly and break off.

You should think about supplementing a bit with fish oil and stay away from all hair dyes perms  and chemicals until your thyroid function returns to normal for you.

Also do not pull your hair back on rubber bands and other things that will put tension on the follicles. That makes it worse.

You need to strengthen your inside to regain the strength for you hair on the outside as well as taking super care of the hair you have left. Mayonaise treatments and egg rinses can help keep what's left intacked - but the real solution is to get balanced with your thyroid to regrow the hair.

I found that the best moral on this until you get better is. " Don't put anything on your body or hair that you can't ingest". during this time.

Stay as simple as possible.
