lymph nodes in underarm/breast very painful, is this related to thyroid??

Hi all! I am new to hypoT and in the last week or so I have been having significant pain in BOTH underarm/breast areas where the lymph nodes are. Has anyone else had this problem or issue? It's so bad I can't sleep on my stomach or either side and I can't take my bra off because it makes the pain worse. It's a dull, pressure that I have. Not sharp or stabbing. I am on birth control pills that are continous with no weeks off so I don't get a period, so it's not related to my period. I have endometriosis and have for years and have never had this problem.

I am still in the diagnostic stage on this whole process. So the dr is still running tests to find out what's going on... I have TSH .8 (Range .6 - 5.0) Free T4 0.8 (Range .7 to 2.0) so I am not sure what I am other than some sort of hypo.

If it's Hashi's would it effect my lymph nodes or am I crazy and just trying to explain this away so it's one less thing I have to deal with????

Thank you all for your help and wisdom! This website/board has been wonderful to me, so thank you all!

I've had a painful lymph gland up in my groin since I went hypo again - it seems to be up and coiincides with tiredness etc. Also I get painful breasts when I'm hypo due to fliud retention - really sore when I take my bra off before getting into my pjs! I find that evening primrose oil really helps with this. Good luck with your appointment - you're doing the right thing getting it checked out tho.

I had a mammogram and ultrasound done about 7 months ago because I have a strong family history of breast cancer and ovarian cancer. The only thing they saw were a couple of small (very small) fibercystic areas on inside of left breast near my sternum. I have a mammogram every 5 years and nothing has ever been a problem, thankfully.

I will call my pcp today and see if I can't get an appointment sometime this week. Thanks for the advice.

Get your regular PC to check out your labs and get your complete blood count run.  You shouldn't have this painful swelling in your arm pits and, being female, it needs to be checked out.  You should also have a mammogram and chest x-ray.

The only time I had this was just after RAI...one painful, purple area under my armpit near the breast...went away after a day or two.  Doctors were surprised, didn't think it was anything.

Sorry you haven't received an answer yet.  At times those that might know of something like this aren't around right when you're wanting answers.  Patience is difficult when you're deep in the middle of something.
