Yes, I am on beta blocker 150 mg a day. Methimazole is okay. With both meds I feel alot better. no more shaking and fast heart rate. Was really bad heart rate was up to 137 just about every day so i am thankful for the meds. I am supposed to go back to the doc on 10/18 for more labs so hopefully everything is in order. Thank you all for responding.
With your FT3 that high...your Doc should be putting you on beta blockers too.
Ask your Doc for a prescription as this will ease the fast heartrate, sweating, burning sensations on yr body.
You do need your labs monitored every 2-3 weeks while on antithyroid meds as you may need an increase/decrease in them.
Any sign of heartrate going too high (over 140) then get to the ER.
How are you feeling on the Methimazole.Keep a good eye on the freet3 and free t4 level as you could easily slip into hypothyroidism now instead of hyper. if your dose is too high. My friend was recently hyper and now after treatment she is hypo. She says she'll take hypo. over hyper any day, as hyperthyroid for her is much worse and caused her heart to race. Hypo. is not good either and can also cause many issues so keep a close eye on thge available thyroid levels. Good luck at your ENDOCRINOLOGIST apt. I hope it goes well and that you get to feeling better real soon!
I HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH GRAVES DISEASE AND ALSO I HAVE BEEN PUT ON METHIMAZOLE 5MG 3 TIMES A DAY. THIS IS JUST FROM MY PRIMARY DOCTOR SUPPOSED T GO SEE AN ENDOCRIMOLOGIST <----- DONT KNOW IF SPELLED RIGHT BUT CANNOT BE SEEN UNTIL DECEMBER
Your freet3 is very elivated and your freet4 is slightly with a surpressed TSH. This is pointing to hyperthyroidism. Are you on thyroid hormone replacement? If so then your dose is more than likely too high and needs decreasing. If you are not the Graves disease needs to be looked at. Have a sonogram done and thye TSI blood test to check for antibodies. So sorry I didn't catch your post sooner.
Your TSH is slightly elivated. The old guide lines have 5.0 as the upper limit. However, the new guide lines say 3.0 should be top of the range for TSH. (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone). It is a signal from the pituitary gland to the thyroid gland that more thyroid hormone is needed by the body. What is the reference range for FT3 on you lab slip? Also, wasn't the Free t4 tested?
FT3 9 TSH 5.5 WHat does this mean?
tsh 0.04 ranges 0.34-5.60
free t4 3.8 ranges 0.54-1.24
free t3 22.4 ranges 2.0-4.4
Can you please post the laboratory reference ranges along with your results?
