Thirst hypothyroid

Does anyone get really thirty after taking thyroxine? I am on a brand called oroxine.
I am on a low dose, 50.
I have been ruling out diabetes by testing 3 times a day. Fluid out is slightly lower than fluid in, as you would expect. My mouth is dry all the time. At first I thought I was dehydrated so I kept drinking. I just went to the toilet more.
I am newly diagnosed by a general practitioner during routine blood test. Apart from being overweight, I feel worse on tablets than I did before tablets.
A month later and I still feel worse.
Is the cure worse than the cause

After starting Eutroxsig (the generic version of Oroxine) i had a week of hyperthyroid symptoms followed by a worsening of hypothyroid symptoms. I had no idea what was going on and was very anxious about this.  I found a book from the library called Running On Empty by Australian author Robyn Koumourou and the timing couldn't of been better.  The relief i felt reading the 5 pages on side effects and why you can feel worse after starting medication was immense. An excerpt from the 5 pages....

"It is not uncommon to start thyroid hormone therapy and find that your symptoms become worse before they get better. When you begin taking thyroxine the areas in the brain that control thyroid hormone production sense the increase in T4 levels within the blood stream.  This feedback system will then cause the thyroid glands natural production of thyroid hormones to slow down.

Less natural T4 and T3 will then be produced and released and blood levels may remain stagnant or even decrease temporarily.  Less free T3 hormone available to the body will slow down cellular metabolism. The symptoms of hypothyroidism may become worse until an increase in thyroxine is taken or an optimal dose is found."

Oroxine is a T4 only thyroid medication and the side effects are those of hyperthyroidism/ over medication.

It's not unusual for symptoms to worsen (or new ones show up) for a time, as the body gets used to the thyroid meds. Once you've been without thyroid hormones for a while, the body tries to compensate, so when it actually gets those hormones, all the other systems have to stop trying to "fill in"

If you have labs for Free T3, Free T4 and TSH, please post them, so members can better assess your situation.

These are the side effects of Oroxine, does not include dry mouth or being thirsty.  Most thyroid sufferers go through a stage of feeling worse after beginning thyroid hormone replacement medication, since your system has gone a while being deficient, now it takes a little time for your system to get used to having more hormone. Depending on if the current dosage is enough to get rid of symptoms will not be seen until you have your first lab results back. Do you have the last lab results ? you could post them here and please incluse reference ranges provided for each test . Has your MD done an antibody test for Hashimoto's thyroiditis, it is the most common Hypothyroid disease. Please post whatever labs you have. Best Regards FTB4
