Thyroid acronyms

I saw where utahmomma posted all of the acronyms for thyroid related issues. I have one to add:

My wife sarted working for a Dentist years ago, and dealt with the patients charts. As you all know, Doctors use lots of abbreviations and acronyms when they do their patient notes. She had them all figured out but one......PIA. She didn't see PAI very often, so after dealing with a rather "challenging" patient, she noticed that her chart had that PAI. My wife had to ask one of the assistants.

It's "Pain-In-the-a**"

I think that it might be on some of my charts!

Wow.....I still can't believe they put PIA on charts.  I go to my primary doc next week, and I'm going to ask to read through my chart.  :-)   I may even share that one with her.  She'd get a kick out of it.

Hey, I just put what acronyms my brain fog (combined with another round of the flu) could remember.  Add to it!!!   Obviously I don't know any of the fun Graves/Hashi's stuff or the lab acronyms so go, be free, edit and add to it all you can!

Most of us on this forum probably have had that written in our charts at one time or another!

I think it is very disrespectful.

I am sure my most recent visit and phone call with the nurse got me that one with my doc
