I started out at 30mg a day. Now down to 5 mg a day, 6 days a week (so 30 mg a week). His goal is to wean me off very slowly. When I go back in May, he will probably wean down to 25 mg a week.
Same thing here, it takes about 4-6 weeks to adjust to the new dose. HaHa - I'm laughing......... "Hurting someone" is a great way to put it:) My husband jokes that during that time of adjustment, he wonders who he'll wake up with from one day to the next. Thank God for a very patient husband:)
TSH was at 1.7 a few weeks ago. The two months before that it was 3.87. T3 & T4 both are doing fine:)
Thanks for the input. Love this site!
My doctor took me completely off Methimazole at 1 year with very poor results...I was off the charts in 2 1/2 weeks and back up to 20MG a day to get me stable. But since then I have very gradually been reducing. I am at 15 MG per week...I take 5 mg on M/W/F and my body is getting used to it but I have passed the two year mark and no signs of it abating. My plan is to try to get down to 10MG per week by May..then 5mg per week by summer and then nothing after that. Each time I reduce, my TSH elevates- but my T3 stays within range which is what my endo focuses on...and it does take about six weeks for my body to adjust to the lower dose...but it does adjust. So I would gradually reduce until you think you can go cold turkey. But have plenty of lab slips on hand and get checked if you feel like hurting someone. :)
