Thyroid test results

44yr old male, in good shape.

Three weeks ago I came down with the following.
Very high blood pressure (150/100), high heart rate (80-90 at rest, 100-120 while just walking around the house),
extreme anxiety, and dropped about 5 pounds in the last week without trying.

I took progesterone cream for 2 months (June and July).  All of these issues seemed to have popped
up after I quit the cream.  I took this to see if it could help with low libido caused by Propecia.

Here's my Thyroid results:
T3 Uptake 38 (norm 22-35)
T4 total 6.4 ( 4.5-12)
Free T4  2.4 (1.4-.8)
TSH  .83  (.40-4.50)

Thank you

Please check the reference range for the FT4.   Did you just type it backwards or should it be different?

Both T3 uptake and Total T4 are pretty much obsolete and of little value.  IF the reference range for the FT4 is supposed to be 0.8-1.4, then your FT4 is over range and might indicate that you are hyperthyroid.  You really need to have a Free T3 test done.  Free T3 is the actual available thyroid hormone and will give more information.

Did your doctor recommend the progesterone?

Your symptoms certainly seem to indicate hyper, but I'd sure like to see a Free T3.

Thanks for the reply. The FT4 range I typed is what's listed on the lab work..  I did not ask my Dr about the progesterone cream, I read it on the propecia forum.  Big mistake.
Do you think this could have wreaked havoc on my system.

Whoops, the FT4 range is 1.4-3.8.

So the high T3 uptake and relatively low TSH would not be a hyperthyroid sign.

Low TSH can be a sign of Hyper.  But not necessarily so.

But your other symptoms are consistent with being Hyper.
