That doesn't really help. We don't know even what test you are referring to being 4.8 and now a 6.
But to hazard a pretty safe bet. It would be TSH. And TSH is almost a completely useless test. You really need to be tested for the two actual usable hormones. Free T4 and Free T3. We also need reference ranges.
TSH I hold and many here hold in poor regard due to its variability among other reasons. But the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists about 10 years ago recommended that the range for TSH be lowered. Their recommendation is 0.3 to 3.0 and anything over 3.0 be considered overt Hypothyroidism. However most labs have not adopted this range and many go to 5.0 and some even more.
Your test of 4 or 6 is clearly higher than 3.0
Being fatigued, is a pretty common for anyone after just having a baby. So I'm sure that is contributing to it as well. But your symptoms are consistent with Hypo.
It is not unheard of postpartum to have thyroid issues. Sometimes that settles back down after a few months, other times it remains. It all depends on the individual. Everyone is different.
Hair loss for some people is the 1st symptom to show up and the VERY last symptom to get rid of. Hairloss can lag quite a few weeks.
Some people blame Synthroid for their hair loss. Others believe that it simply is the result of being Hypo for a while and until you get sufficient thyroid in your blood for several weeks the hair loss may continue or not regrow. Understanding that "sufficient" hormone means that it is optimized. Not just that you are taking "some" medication.
In terms of the body as a whole. Hair is just not that important ever since we no longer live in caves and need to keep warm like an animal. So the body conserves energy where it can. And the body doesn't seem to want to put any energy into something it really doesn't need. So it stop growing hair I guess.
The worst is losing hair which i cant deal with . I recently had a baby and now I'm confused to what is causing what .. I was on 25 mg before pregnancy n now I'm on 50 mg . My anger just bursts out of now where . Im fatigue and just dont want to do anything . Also Im on prenatal vitamins , iron , vit d n c .. Don't know my lab numbers , but i know its right in the middle . As far as i can remember ( which btw my memory ***** very bad ) it was. 4.8 and now maybe I'm a 6 .. Hope that helps ..
There are no known foods, herbs or so called "all natural" supplements that contain any Hormone. And the FDA here in the USA prohibits the sale of supplements with any measurable amount of hormone in it.
So the bottom line is. If you are not producing enough Thyroid hormone from your own thyroid gland, then the ONLY way to get additional hormone for your body to use is by Dr. prescription medication. PERIOD.
Some vitamins and supplements can help or if deficient have similar symptoms as low thyroid.
For example Vit D3 and Vit B-12 is common for people to be deficient which results in fatigue symptoms. Also Iron and Ferritin.
Selenium is said to aid in the proper conversion of T4 into T3. But too much Selenium can be toxic so don't just go willy-nilly with it either.
Food, diet and supplements may be good for a LOT of things. Just not really for Thyroid issues. Unfortunately.
If your thyroid is underactive, it's unlikely that anything but replacement hormones will help you feel better. If your meds are properly adjusted for you and the proper meds, you shouldn't have either side effects or continuing symptoms.
Please post recent thyroid labs with reference ranges (vary lab to lab so have to come from your own lab report). We can take a look and see if your treatment is adequate.
What symptoms/side effects are you having?
