Tsh 2nd generation?..what is that?..is <0.01 with a goiter normal

Please help ..today they gave me results on my labs.Tsh 2nd generation...,0.01  range 0.34.4.82   glucose 231
HGB AIC , Glyco 11.6  I have had a goiter for 7 years..have been taking Armour Thyroid for years..but for the past year and a half because of financial reasons, and no health insurance i have been without my meds. I recently had high sugar readings..and my goiter is larger. The clinic who handled my labs had the nurse call and tell me nothing is wrong with my thyroid..or diabetes...i am in a nightmare.

In the meantime, you must get very strict with your diet.  No candies, sugars, white breads.... if possible follow a low carb diet.   You need to get your blood sugars down.

Please see a dr. asap and take along your test results.

Hi,

if the HA1C is 11.6, you have severe diabetes and need urgent treatment.  This level is dangerously high. (Normal is 4.8, though the range is up to 6.0).

The TSH shows hyperthryoid, but would need to be confirmed with further testing.

The nurse is terribly wrong.  You need to go to the clinic and see a dr.  Do not just accept this.

Better still, if you can you need to see an endocrinolgist.

TSH of .01, do you feel hypER?

If you needed Armour before and stopped it, you should be hypo now. Unless you had temporary hypothyroidism, not the autoimmune disease type caused from antibodies.

You did not say if that was a fasting blood glucose. If it was, your results are not good. re-post that on the diabetes forum for better answers.
