I can across your forum searching for information on hypothyroidism and found it very helpful. I'm hoping someone can help me understand my thyroid test result. Here's some background. Four years ago I started feeling exhausted to the point I was tired all day. I had all the symptoms of hyperthyroidism, Fatigue, increased sensitivity to cold, constipation, weight gain (30 lbs in 4 years), puffy face, muscle weakness and soreness, thinning hair, depression, low to no libido. My family doctor ran a standard thyroid test which came back normal. The symptoms were getting worse especially the fatigued. 2 years passed before I went to another doctor. It was during an MRI when 2 nodules were found on my thyroid. I had them biopsied but everything came back normal. I was so frustrated. I feel like I stopped living 4 years ago and now I'm merely existing now. I'm so tired of being sick and tired. I've been getting my standard thyroid blood test every year hoping they find something but no luck until 3 months ago. I was referred to an endocrinologist.... At last I thought a ray of hope! Below are my test result from August 2013 and October 2013.
August October
FT4 - .91 FT4 - 1.06
FT3 Free - 3.3
TSH - .40 TSH - .30
Thyroglobulin - 160
Thyroglobul AB - Normal Throglobul AB - Normal
I thought now I would finally get some answers but that's not the case. My endocrinologist say my test result are normal and although I have all the classic symptom of hypothyroidism she goes off test results thus no meds. I do have to go and see her again in 3 months..... Can anyone help me to understand what these test results mean? My family doctor seem concerned my TSH levels were low and my thyroglobulin level was so high but the endocrinologist says they are normal. I have been prescribed meds for high blood pressure, constipation, acid reflux and to sleep. I feel like my body is working against me however, all my test are coming back normal. my hormone levels have been tested and are normal. Help.....I'm worried my next step is going to be an antidepressant.
