Wonderful news.
FInding a good doctor to work with her is the biggest part of the battle won. The rest takes time and patience.
Your partner is lucky to have you.
Look forward to hearing how she goes.
Hello Friends,
I got in touch with an Endocrinologist through one of my friends and he suggested her to be on 150 mcg for 4 weeks and get a referral to meet him in person from our GP. He gave exactly the same advice as every other friends in this thread. He said TSH is not a good indicator and that more tests need to be done. But he mentioned her thyroid could be failing fairly quickly and we need to find the reason. I shall keep you guys updated once we consult the specialist. She is now feeling better after the dosage increase except for calf muscle pain and triedness after 7:00 pm. Hope she gets better. She means everything to me. Once again thankyou all for so much support.
Regards,
Rsentham
It may just take time for her symptoms to get there. When I was first diagnosed with hypothyroidism my TSH was over 100 and I did not feel half as bad as I do now when it goes to 3 or 4? I can't explain it.
Friends,
We have more bad news. After the second round of tests in a week, her TSH is now at 319 and T4 5.5 (range 10 - 20). Doctor increased the dose to 150 mcg of L-Thyroxine. But what's confusing is; her only symptoms are muscle pain and occasional tiredness. She has put on 1 kg in say 30 days. Given the symptoms only, its hard to say if she has hypothyroidism let alone the high TSH. Any thoughts behind this. In this forum I see people feeling so unwell with TSH of around 50. Anyone, please advise why her symptoms doesn't correlate with her extremely high value of TSH.

Hi,
The GP ordered another blood test to make sure that test results were valid. Her T4 was 7 and the range is 10-20. GP said we shall decide on the those once we get the results and now she is back at 75 mcg. I shall keep you posted about her latest results once we have them. Friends, is it possible for TSH to go from 25 to 0.04 and then to 190 within 5 months?
Hi,
we are fellow patients here, not doctors. But we have lot's of experience to share.
Your poor partner must be feeling so bad. Her symptoms those of severe hypothyroidism. Just bear with her and be supportive until this gets sorted out.
Sounds like her thyroid is progressively failing based on the TSH dramatic increase, even though she was on (reduced) meds. I don't understand why the dr. changed from 75 mcg every day to only 1/2 tab every 2nd day. The usual adjustment increment for meds is 25 mcg for each adjustment (though can be higer or lower, depending on individual case).
Testing should also be FT3, FT4 and TSH. T3, T4 are not showing the available hormone. Please also post the reference range for any results you give so we can you better feedback.
What did the Did the Dr. say about her latest result and what did he do? Back to 75 mcg?
Testing should be about every 4 - 6 weeks with her current condition, with adjustments then made.
Keep hanging out here. Others will also jump in with info.
by the way , this is not the doctors forum !
I think that starting with initial dose of 75 mcg/day is high !
in addition 30 days are not enough to do blood test !
feel well ,
