Update on my levels

Hey de hi de ho you all! Here we go...hang on to your hats!

Ref ranges Australia               (9.0-25.0)    (0.35-5.50)    (3.5-6.5)
Feb 2010                               FT4 18.2    TSH 0.23      FT3  3.2           Dose   Thyroxine 114.3mcgs  (T4 med)
June 2010                              FT4 17.2    TSH 9.82      FT3  3.6           Dose   Thyroxine 107.1mcgs  (T4 med)

Surprised? I'm not! Recalling I have no thyroid having been removed totally in Dec 07. Being on a dose of 100mgs for a long time, seemed to keep my FT4's way up over the 26.0 mark. my TSH in the 0.14 area and my FT3's around 4.0 All this time as I have gone up doses or down doses weird things happen! my FT3's are still falling!

Something else is happening too! My antibodies are sneaking up! 3 years post surgery, they should be falling not rising! This is the Thyroglobulin antibodies which are rising. The TPO is actually falling...(still a bit higher than it ought to be but nonetheless falling)

So what do ya all reckon, hey?
Should I cut my head off now and be done with it?
( I have written a journal too by the way to fill in the other bits of my recent scare with a different medical problem but somehow I think they are all related. Please take the time to have a look!)

If you have Medibank Private then it will cover most of the Compiunding Doctor and the Prescription so it might be worth yr while making an appointment.
As for the Ovarian Cyst...usually its done by keyhole but sometimes they wait to see if the cyst will burst on its own...depending on the severity of symptoms.
I had my right ovary partially removed years ago (due to scar tissue from a fallopian tube) and it was done by keyhole surgery.
Hopefully they do the same for you if it needs to be removed.
All the best :)

I have always had Medibank Private. Even on a pension I have semi-top cover. Before I had thyroid problems I had a ton of other medical issues and I wasn't gonna wait 3 years for a knee operation!

I was about to book my return to LAX when I had my ultrasound with the ovarian cyst result. After yesterdays CT scan I doubt I will be going anywhere except hospital real soon.  The holiday is really more to see my man, I miss him so bloody much it hurts! Might be his last visit this year....and ....Oh it doesn't matter...all too complicated!

Just waiting for my results on Tuesday. I think I have more to worry about now than getting some T3...sigh......Just can't believe my luck!

Red,,,

I think maybe it might be a good idea if you join Medibank Private (Extras only cover) which is about $18 a fortnight and go see Dr. Pamela Daggley to get on compounded thyroxin.
She will send you to Spotswood compounding centre with yr script or you can fax them and they post it out.
Just remember to photocopy yr script and then yr local Doc can do it from there for other scripts after the first consultation.
I was going to do this when I thought I needed T3.

Thats what my Doc told me to do at the time. He said ANY Doc can write out the script after the first one can be written but needs to know what consistancies...he gets this info off the first script.

Surely it is worth missing yr USA holiday to get well again?
I know I would skip the holiday and pay out just to 'get on track" with all this.
But didnt end up needing it.

It isnt all doom and gloom .....there is light at the end of the tunnel....you have to work at it to find it.
It does
take PATIENCE (which none of us have but learn to have lol) and a lot of recovery to wellness is knowing your symptoms before the labs and also telling the Docs who do jack -sh@t to go to he//.
Been there, done that.

Hugs x

Ummmmm and when is a FT3 at the absolute bottom of the range normal!?!

Handsome endo is obviously too good looking to think. Or distracted.... or something...

I think you should go back to beautiful lady doctor, tell her how bad and hypo you are feeling, point out the high TSh and very low FT3 and see if she's willing to go outside the box on this and prescribe you some T3!

It is known that TSH can lag behind everything else which is probably why the TSH was 'OK" on the previous dose when the FT3 was below range, but now the TSH is so high (and the T3 is still dismal).

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE...Beautiful lady doctor has called Handsome Endo and he says, to wait a month and recheck it all...That he is 'happy' that all is ok, no big problems.....not to fiddle with any change in meds again.......Huh???????   (expletives are deleted here, please enjoy the muzak as I stomp around in my lounge room ripping papers to shreds and terrifying my pets)
I am having all the symptoms again of being hypo and he says wait? Beautiful lady doctor was not all that happy with his response either, she told me that if I have symptoms that I can't cope with to come back and see her and we will take it from there.  I think he missed the part about the TG rising.....or maybe he was doing something with his receptionist, like giving dictation and he was distracted.....

Pity cutting one's head off is not a good solution...... though permanent.
I'd think you need some T3 added to your mix.
Big change in TSH for such a small change in meds.....

Thyroid being out affects everything!!!
