Vitamin D & Thyroid

My endo just checked my vitamin D along with my thyroid labs and it's very low (9.1). I'm wondering if anyone has encountered the same problem and if there's any corelation with thyroid disease? (BTW, I'm hyper).

Thanks

FTB4,

I have taken 1000 iu per 45 days and my D levels reached to 30.Previuoesely it was 14.But my physician suggested to stop this and gave prescription for DE-Vit 1.25 mg per week. Now i am in the 2nd week with D-Vit 1.25mg ,but my symptoms are increasing.

Do you think D-1000 iu is better than D-Vit 1.25 mg ?

Any suggestions ?

Thanks
Sheker

Yup, my endo tested me for vitamin D as well (I'm also hypothyroid) and my level was 19.  He considered that very deficient and I've been on 2,000 iu per day and my level has gone from 19 to 32.  Apparently, he wants my level to be closer to 50-75.  I assume there is some connection between thryoid and vitamin D since he checked it.

That link is a thread that is on page two discussing Vitamin D and thyroid disease. It has Vitamin D in the title. It is a good read, although it doesn't go into the exact mechanism that causes a deficiency.

There is a correlation between the two.
