Barley grass??? - iodine???
Hi , My name is Susan R, I started taking barley grass as a supplement Feb/March ' 08 as I grew weary of my intolerance to colds ,sore throats and UTI'S etc. I became hyperthryroid March of ' 08. I was referred to a twin City Endo and he recommended Rai . At which time I was opposed to it. I logged on to this forum and became scared of my fate should I proceed with Rai or continue on the No tx vs anti thyroid drugs. Any way after the euphoria of 20 lb wgt loss wore off between March and Sept .I became fatigued butagainst Md advise refused to have i 131or Antithyoid drugs with sustained tsh of 0.0, t3 and t4 . By january I was fed up of the excercise intolerance ,lethargia and proceeded with Radioactive Iodine Ablation ie Rai ie i 131.My tsh did not fall immediately as I had assumed 3 weeks ago I quit taking Barley grass and started Chantix for 3 -4 noctural cigs. Stress relief after putting 2 small kids to bed and having"Me time". Now my tsh is 2.6 and t3 and t4 s falling per labs last week. Coincidence ?
I don't believe you will have any issues with the iodine needed here. You have no thyroid left from RAI so it should be just fine to use.
I have been using potassium iodide for about a month now. I had ablation for Graves too years ago and actually I feel the best now then I have felt in years.
