What is happening

History
4 years ago Thyroid Storm, dx of Graves, Hashimoto, Hypothyroid then Thyroid destroyed by radioactive iodine
On Synthroid 88 mcg
Last year thyroid test showed need to increase synthroid, went up to 112, neck ached, sore nodule, back to 88 mcg
In December a Check up showed T3 elevated, everything else OK, taken off of Synthroid for one month and had a thyroid scan
thyroid scan showed thyroid functioning at 1%, no gross abnormalities, started levothyroixin 88 mcg for last 5 weeks
feeling tired and unwell, blood test showed TSH 15, everything else OK but recommended anti TPOB?  This is way up and now PA wants me to see Endo specialist.

Could levothroxin not be working for me?

How can I have a thyroid disease if  I don't have a functioning thyroid?

The PA sent my records to the endo.  He scheduled me for June 24th.  I don't think he was very concerned so I am not going to worry until I get so tired I can't get up out of bed.  Thanks so much for answering.

No its not enough time but if you feel 'comfortable' on the dose you are on....then stay as you are.
The secret to wellness in thyroid issues is BABY STEPS.
Most want a quick fix overnight and it just does NOT happen.
The Free numbers mean nothing to me as my ref, range for FT4 is 10.0 -19.0 and my Ft3 is 3.5 - 6.0 so as you can see......all labs differ in different countries.
The five weeks wouldve brought your TSH down somewhat but dont always go by the TSH.
The Ft3 and Ft4 is the most important values.

My T3 was 110 and T4 Free was 1.3.  I checked on TPOB results and it was "very high" and they want to send me to an endo.  They did increase the Synthroid to 112.  I want to give it a chance to work before I run to someone else.  I don't think five weeks on 88 is enough take me from zero during fasting month to a normal zone.  My main symptom is FATIGUE.  Am I safe to wait?  Thanks so much for responding.

Your antibodies have flared up and that is why the TPOB is raised.
That would also cause the TSH to go a bit haywire.
Also being off T4 meds for a month would cause the TSH to go up.
Laura is right in regards to the Free's...dont have the normal T labs done, they are outdated.

Looks like you are not on enough Levo....for no thyroid function a dosage of 88mcg seems too low to me. You are Hypo from not enough meds.
A TSH does not show the whole picture.....it is a pituitary function test. You need to have a Free T4 and Free T3 done with the TSH. The Frees are the actual active thyroid hormone in the body and needs to be checked.
