Selma- what I meant was running another blood test to check your latest levels of antibodies (shows hashimotos)
Yes make sure it is a free t3 and free t4 with tsh....all other tests are outdated.
oh...and Laura...T3 and free T3 r 2 different things?......
...thanks, that's what I said to my dr...he wanted to put me on crestor....and I needed an EKG first!!.....to me that was a flashing red light.
May I ask what u meant by "running another antibody test"...being a waste of time....I am completly lost on thyroid issues,...it's all too new for me.

The tests to be run are exactly the ones that AR said....TSH, Free T3, Free T4. Running another antibody test is a waste of time. Cholesterol levels can be affected by hypothyroidism, so I would have labs run first before I jump to other meds...that is just my opinion.
Thank you!!....but I thought I remembered someone saying something about antibodies....I've been told my labs r normal...but I have hashi's with nodules that grew slightly....so my PC said he'd run labs and let him know which ones to run.....I never got the old report, so....again I was under the impression I needed something other than T3 and T4....and TSH....it's been 8 months since the last testing....Endo said 6 months....in OCT,,,,but only had US done then.
I an so confused...I do not understand ne of this.....my PC wants me on meds for cholesterol....only 12 pts over....I thought my hashi's is playing a part in this?

Testing your antibodies frequently is not really productive.
Testing your TSH, Free T4, and Free T3 (if possible) every six weeks is helpful unless you have been getting the same results for six months, in which case every three months is adequate.
Sorry your question got missed so many times. It's getting busy here.
:o)
stella....someone???
I know u all have said free T3 and free T4.....but I want to be sure all the right tests r run....I have not had antibodies or ANA done in a while...is there a specific antibodie to be tested?
