What should I do next

Hi my name is kristy , and I am really confused what I should do. In May I got a routine check up said my nodules are pretty big . Wanted to do test on me had a ultra sound done , found out it was a goiter went to a ent did some blood work ,all came back fine , they still wanted to do a biopsy on it (well I have2) on right side. 1came back fine the other came back inconclusive . So he was saying I could do 2things come back in 6 months and repeat the biopsy or do a partial removal. Well I wanted a second opinion so I went to an endocrine& thyroid. He also retested me for everything as the ent did. I have a goiter and it is growing and come back in 6 months to repeat it. But I am having trouble in swallowing , coughing , hoarseness , chest pain , plus my parents has hyo and the other 1 has hyper .  He told me the same thing I can get a partial removal. But I just don't no what to do . I am also allergic to iodine and he said that could be the reason why I have a goiter so I have been using iodine salt. I just need help I really don't know who I can turn to or even make me feel comfortable ,they look at me like I'm crazy . Please someone give me an answer anything would be helpful. I been thinking about doin the surgery cause I'm hoping that it will help me out. Thank you in advance , Kristy

Large nodule with inconclusive result can be tested with Afirma molecular testing and removed if found suspicious. If that nodule is the benign colloid nodule or toxic nodule (that may flare up after iodine ingestion and confused with the allergy reaction) the PEI procedure may be attempted to relieve compression symptoms prior to going for surgical removal.
Finally the allergy can be caused by certain ionic iodine compounds, therefore Iodated salt (containing potassium iodate, not iodide can be used).

Well if you are having trouble swallowing maybe you should research all about a partial thyroid removal.

My co-worker & one of my sisters had that done. They don't have to take medication at all, but not everyone is the same.

In my opinion if it is giving you trouble swallowing & you can't wait the 6 months for another biopsy because of swallowing I would get it removed.

However, you need to be comfortable with what you chose to do because it is your body, we can only give our opinion if we were in your circumstances.

You, first, have to calm down and give us more information.

A goiter is a swollen/inflamed thyroid.  Do you mean that you have 2 nodules and they did biopsies on those?

What tests were done by the endo? Were they blood tests? You should have been tested for Free T3, Free T4 and TSH.

Sounds like you have thyroid issues on both sides of your family.  Do you know if either/both of them are autoimmune?  Have you been tested for thyroid antibodies?

If you are allergic to iodine, why are you using an iodized salt?
