Pl. clarify - Whether High TSH will block pregnant

Hi, I'm 24 year old female, recently married in september'08 - for the past 4-5 months i'm trying get pregnant.but in vain. ......i've been taking Thyro norm 500 mg. tablet 1/ day in the morning....and my latest blood test reveals (a week back) T3 - 76.32 : T4 - 7.90 & TSH - 9.05 and in my previous test report taken 3 months back the TSH was 12.80....I don't have irrigular periods.....and we have planned intercourse at peak dates........i need a clarification and suggestions whether i'm not getting preganant because of my high TSH???.....or whether its not a factor to consider and with my current prescription of Thyro norm 500..how long it will take to achieve normal TSH.........Pl. help

They do say that it is hard to fall pregnant if your thyroid levels are unbalanced and unstable.
It would be wise to get the thyroid levels stable before contemplating pregnancy as unstable thyroid levels can cause miscarraige (sorry to say) or cause problems for the foetus.
I am sure you would want the best for your baby and your prgnancy so work with your Doctor to get those levels right and stable.

No-one can tell you how long it will take for the TSH to return to normal as everyone is different but have regular 4-6 weekly blood tests as you may need an increase in your meds.
