Whats so 'normal' about this??

I have Graves' disease, have been hypothyroid (post 2 RAIs) since 2003, and just had my TSH/T3/T4 ect checked last month, all was 'normal', so my Synthroid hasnt been adjusted, I've been on the same dose for almost 2 years now.  I can't sleep for the past 2 weeks because I'm too hot, then during the day, I'm cold and sleepy.  I'm only 36, I am not having 'hot flashes' because this is constant; 12 hours too hot, 12 hours too cold.  What is going on and HOW do I get something done about it if all my labs keep coming back 'normal'.  I AM NOT NORMAL, I'M MISERABLE!!!

I feel for you. I started having the "night sweats" at 37 yrs old as well. They tell me it is not perimenopause. I freeze during the day, I run a space heater at work during the summer when the guys have it at 74; I just get cold easy during the day, but get "night sweats" off & on during the night.

I too had graves/hyper & had RAI & TT done. That was 18yrs ago.

If you want my opinion I think the RAI messed me up...but I am only saying this for myself....

Do you have labs that you could post, so members can help assess your situation?

If you have a copy of your latest lab report, could you please post those "normal" results?  Be sure to include the reference ranges listed on your report, as these vary from lab to lab, so must come from your own report.

Were the T3 and T4 tests you had, the FREE T3 and FREE T4 or were they totals? If your lab report doesn't specify, they are totals, which are considered obsolete and of little value, since the Free's tell you how much hormone is "free" to be used by the body, while the rest is bound to protein making it unusable.

It's often not enough to just be "in range".  Many of us find that we have to have FT4 adjusted to about mid range, with FT3 in the upper 1/3 of its range.

You might want to have your reproductive hormones checked.  I started perimenopause at about your age, and went through much the same thing, with the hot and cold.
