Why did Cytomel work better than generic T3?

I took Cytomel for a year and it was a miracle med for me. Previous treatment with T4 alone did nothing for me that I could feel. With the addition of Cytomel, I felt great and was able to eat a normal amount of food without gaining weight. When I changed insurance coverage, I had to use the generic form of T3. It didn't work like the Cytomel did. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? My labs were not different on the Cytomel, but I felt so much better.
(Unfortunately, when I decided to go back on the Cytomel after a year on the generic, I had an allergic reaction to it so can't take it. I tried Armour to no avail.)
Thank you.

So are you saying that there is a difference?  The pharmacy said today when I called that they don't keep it in stock and it is hard to get??   this was walgreens.

You are going to have to wait and see what your next set of labs show.  Also keep in mind you might want to ask for Cytomel brand name instead of generic.  :)

I thought that the generic cytomel was exactly as the brand cytomel.  no difference what so ever.  I thought I read this somewhere in these forums????   i am on the generic for 3 weeks now and I really feel no different.  the doc gave me 25 mg of cytomel to add to my 75mcg of synthroid.  advice from you guys, so I cut my synthroid in half and taking only 6 mcg of cytomel.  but I have been taking 1/2 of cytomel in the morning and breaking the other half in two.  so yeah that is 25 mg.  the only thing I notice different is at the end of the day I feel like i am carring a huge boulder.   apparently I am up to come down so hard.  will these meds eventually help?   only 3 weeks into cytomel .  should I be patient??  my labs are not due for another month.  thanks for the help!

The same lab that makes the generic T4 med also makes the generic T3.....both have disappointed many people. My dr won't prescribe either. Name brands only.
What was your allergic reaction??
