Welcome to the forum!
I'm quite sure with your tsh being that high that you feel like your limbs are filled with lead! I remember washing my hair in the shower was a chore.
Since you just found out, I assume you haven't been on the medication very long. Give it some time, and you should see improvements as your tsh comes down.
Congrats on your twin baby girls!!
Welcome to the board. :o)
I'm Dr. Who. You can just call me The Doctor.
I have a sonic screwdriver and a call box that is very roomy inside. Time travel is a piece of cake, but I'm still trying to figure out this whole thyroid business.
It's a little more complicated than whisking around the universe. :-/
LOL!!!
Hello, I am fairly new here. Still learning alot though the forum. Welcome
Welcome to the Thyroid Club! We're happy to have you. :)
It sounds like you have an autoimmune form of hypothyroidism, called Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Basically, it means your thyroid isn't producing enough of the hormones it should be producing and as a result, you're probably experiencing a lot of symptoms wish such a high TSH: fatigue, dry skin, thinning hair, brittle nails, weight gain, loss of appetite, etc. TSH is a hormone released by the pituitary gland in your brain as part of a negative feedback system--if it detects too little thyroid hormones in the blood, it tries to flog your thyroid into producing more hormones by releasing more TSH into your bloodstream, but since your thyroid is being attacked by your own immune system, it cannot keep up production with demand, and is slowly destroyed.
I hope you start feeling better soon. If the meds don't do it, I know some of the community members certain will!
