Wonder if I am hypothroid?

My TSH is .01 and my T4 ia 1.8 in the normal range....I do not think I have Hashimoto's disease...though my doctor prescribed Methimazole 10 mg twice a day and I take Atenolol for palpitations, as I especially feel like a "racing" after I eat...I do have a goitor and nodules which I have to check...Any suggestions for someone with the same readings, please let me know. Thanks.

Your results indicate that you are hyper, not hypo.

As I noted above, Graves Disease is most often associated with hyperthyroidism, though Hashimoto's can have periods of hyper in the beginning stages.  Some doctor just "assume" that if one is hyper, they have Graves or if one is hypo, they have Hasmoto's.  Rarely, we've seen some patients with both Graves and Hashi's.  You should be tested for all 3 antibodies, I noted above.

They are simple blood tests and should be covered by your insurance.

T4, FREE  is 1.8  Range is .8 to 1.8 ng/dL

What is the test for thyroid antibodies?  Is it a blood test? No doctor ever mentioned this test....I do not see  a TSI test on my Blood Test Report Sheet....I will ask my doctor if I should test for Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPOab) and Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TGab).

What's the actual reference range for the T4, and is that Free T4 or Total?  Seems consistent with what we see for FT4, but please confirm.  FT4 of 1.8 is at the very top of (if not over) most ranges we see.

Have you been tested for thyroid antibodies?  Graves Disease is the one most often associated with being hyper and for that you would need to have Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulin (TSI) tested.  To test for Hashimoto's, which is most often associated with hypothyroidism, but can present with initial periods of hyper, you need to test Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPOab) and Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TGab).
