the eltroxin article sounds interesting i have been on that about 6 months because my first endo said it was better and easier absorbed so if you do come across it i would be interested to read it. i have come to the conclusion that maybe this is as good as it will get now and i will just have to stay fat and tired!!
thanks for the info jackie
I should have looked at your post more closely and asked that question first before my response.
I did rush through it -
my apologies.
I do remember looking over an article on some issues with the thyroid med eltroxin. Saying it lately has some inconsistant dosage problems. I need to look back in my notes - if I saved that to refer you to the page.
I haven't found that as of right now and I am not sure if I saved it at all. BUT I do remember them saying their were dosage issues.
How are you doing based on your symptoms? I know you mention you don't feel any better - but exactly what are the issues?
I am glad you didn't increase the dose! That had me concerned.
The hormone levels are very individual, so it is hard to compare from one person to the next.
You are welcome! :)
kitty thanks for all your information i havent increased my dose since the tests those results are after my increase so i think this is probably where i will stay i wondered if the t3 and t4 was especially high in relation to tsh as i have seen people with low tsh and there t3 and t4 are not as high as mine. i really found your reply helpful thanks
Your t3/4 levels are high because your TSH is low. That is what would be expected since the TSH and hormones have an inverse relationship.
Using Armour would only increase the t3 more. It has a higher ratio of t3 to t4 than our thyroid does.
Why are you on an increased dose if your levels are supressed as they are supposed to be?
The great majority of people convert t4 to t3. It is rare to have a conversion problem. You have plenty of t3.
The conversion of t4 into t3 using levothyroxine products is not "synthetic". The t4 in your med is identical to the t4 your thyroid is not making on it's own.
T4 is converted to T3 in the bodies cells and tissues and that is not a synthetic process. You ingest t4 and your body naturally does the rest.
T1 and T2 found in Armour have no biological activity and add no benefit. T4 actually degrades into t1 and t2. T3 is the only biologicalically active hormone the body uses.
The thyroid normally makes 80% T4 and 20% T3. The majority of T3 in your body comes from the conversion of T4.
thanks stella do you think this is why my t3 t4 levels are so high
i wish i could try armour but i dont know how i would do that here its hard enough getting the tests you want
jackie
It is a synthetic conversion with your thyroid medication and your body may be pushing hard to convert the T4 into the T3
Have your considered trying Armour as a natural hormone replacement for thyroid?
You may benefit greatly from the T1 T2 T3 and T4 already built in.
