Anyone else on Tirosint?

My doctor is starting me on 125mcg of Tirosint.  Was wondering if anyone else is on it and if so, what has your experience been?  Are you on any other medications,,,(T3, vitamin D, B12).

My T4 is very low, but my T3 is in range (middle).  My vitamin D is also low.  Have not had B12 or ferritin checked yet.

For those that take vitamin D, do you take over the counter or prescription?

We've had some members on Tirosint, but they haven't been active on the forum lately.  I was on it, from the time it came on the market in 2009 until August of last year, when the price sky-rocketed, my insurance didn't cover it and I could not longer justify the high cost.

I was on 88 mcg and also take generic T3 - 10 mcg/day.  I have Pernicious Anemia, so am on vitamin B-12 injections - 1 injection/week. I take vitamin D, calcium, magnesium, selenium, etc. With the exception of the B-12 injections, all of my supplements are OTC on the advice of my doctor.

Your FT4 is very low... Did your doctor specify a cause for your hypothyroidism?  Were you tested for thyroid antibodies?

125 mcg is a HUGE starting dose; I'm shocked that your doctor is starting you that high, since many of us don't even ever reach that dose.  A typical starting dose is 25 to 50 mcg... You might want to discuss that with your doctor...

Tirosint, being a gelcap, is more fully dissolved and more readily absorbed than pill form meds.
